The 20th Anniversary Event “How to Support Yourself in Today’s Reality”

On March 21, at School No. 306 in Kyiv’s Desnianskyi district, the 20th anniversary event of “How to Support Yourself in Today’s Reality” brought together 109 participants. The special guest of the day was Lida Lee — a well-known Ukrainian singer who held an incredibly sincere and heartfelt meeting with teenagers.

Why Are Such Events Important?

Today’s teenagers live in a state of constant uncertainty and danger. Air-raid alerts, shelling, information overload, and fear for themselves and their loved ones all put enormous strain on their mental health.

The event “How to Support Yourself in Today’s Reality” offers practical tools for self-support, helping participants manage stress, find inner strength, and believe in their own potential. It gives young people a chance to keep growing, dreaming, and planning for the future — even in difficult times.

Tools for Overcoming Daily Challenges

During the event, participants received practical guidance on stress management and mental-health support from a psychologist. They took part in interactive exercises to recognize and regulate emotions, practiced breathing techniques, and learned quick relaxation methods.

The teens didn’t just listen — they actively practiced what they learned, turning theory into real-life coping tools. The results exceeded expectations: most participants created their own personal “self-support recipe.”

Life Lessons from a Star

This time, the special guest was singer Lida Lee, whose conversation with the students turned out to be both sincere and profound.
She invited participants to speak openly about their dreams, goals, and challenges, asking them thoughtful questions and sharing her own reflections.

The atmosphere was filled with warmth and trust — teenagers shared deeply personal thoughts about their insecurities, desire to build confidence, and need for emotional stability. Everyone could ask anything, from “How can I overcome fear?” to “How do I become more confident in myself?”

Feedback That Inspires Us

  • “It was so useful to hear this, thank you for the event,” — shared one participant.
  • “Everyone here was amazing!” — another added.
  • “I really liked Lida Lee. Thank you so much for such an interesting and insightful event, please come again!” — wrote one student in their feedback form.

About the Project

The “How to Support Yourself in Today’s Reality” events are part of the socio-emotional support project for children, implemented in partnership with UNICEF Ukraine.

Such initiatives are especially meaningful in today’s difficult context, as they equip teenagers with the tools to manage stress, build self-confidence, and maintain a positive outlook on the future, no matter the challenges they face.
