Adolescence is a period of deep transformations, which is further complicated by the challenges of war. Teenagers’ inner experiences often remain unexpressed, creating a serious burden on their psychological health. Fear, confusion, and emotional tension hide behind a silent wall, accumulating inside.
We cannot stop missiles, but we can help teenagers express states and emotions that are sometimes difficult to verbalize, reduce physical tension, release negative energy, find resources, and points of support.
Art therapy courses allow teenagers to reveal what is difficult or impossible to express in words. Through creativity, they explore their inner world, work through traumatic experiences, and find inner resources and strength to overcome difficulties.
“When ordinary conversations don’t help, creativity opens new doors for understanding oneself and the world. Through art therapy, teenagers learn to adapt to life changes, better understand their feelings, and build healthy relationships with those around them,” says psychologist Alyona Oliynyk.
Art therapy courses at Place of Power become a unique healing space for teenagers affected by war. During 12 group sessions, they work with experienced psychologists and receive support from peers who are going through similar experiences.
“Parents notice changes after the first few sessions – children become calmer, sleep better, and communicate more easily with peers,” explains the psychologist.
Let’s help 12 teenagers overcome negative emotions through an art therapy course at Place of Power. To do this, we need to raise 95,000 hryvnias — this will give them the opportunity to attend 12 sessions over 6 weeks and transform their experiences into creativity.
Each of your donations is an investment in the future, because in a few years, this generation will become the driving force of change in our country.
